Playing a role

No one has the right to play God.

Tyler Robinson has been arrested on suspicion of aggravataed murder, felony discharge of a firearm causing seriously bodily hard, and obstrcution of justice charges in the assassination of Charlie Kirk.

No matter one’s belief, status or ideaology, they have no business dictating who lives or who dies. It’s inexcusable and cowardly.

Let’s go back to the lead, however. Let’s briefly unpack “God” in this context.

A person is not a god. A personality is not a god. A politician is not a god. Some may be at risk of contradicting their moral foundation, however.

It has been reported that Robinson’s family was involved in the arrest. We may have to reference “1984” again here. It was common in the novel for family members, especially children who had been conditioned early by Big Brother, to turn in other family members guilty of challenging the Party to the Thought Police.

This is where it gets murky. It is a sinister question to ask someone to decide between family and law. I personally do not know how to answer that question, and hopefully will never have to. Yet, if one is to turn a family member in not for legal purposes, but to appease the leader of the law (using that phrase loosely here), then motives must be questioned. This pop culture leader, especially, has developed a strong and loyal following that idolizes and obeys them.

I am not saying this is the case in this specific tragedy, but perhaps this can serve has a note of reflection.

Mustn’t I remind people familiar with the Decalogue, that the sixth commandment states, “You shall not murder.” Of course, Robinson is only accused of murder, and there is no guarentee he is a religious person. The first commandment states, “You shall have no other gods before Me,” and the second echos a similar demand, “You shall not make idols.”

With religion being at the forefront of the leader’s and their following’s ideology, the group is at risk of violating the very foundation they base their morality on. Ironically, there is a call to have the Ten Commandments displayed in classrooms.

Be careful how you condition your children. Be careful who you idoloize. And, for God’s sake, stop fucking murdering people. Too many people are playing a role they are not suited for.
